When it comes to guitars, a lot of people have questions when it comes to the true meaning behind “artisan” or “boutique”. As a luthier based in Bryan, Texas, I’m proud to create guitars that are as unique as the players who use them. This is much more than just a job or business to me – it’s a passion rooted in tradition, craftsmanship, and the rich history of Texas. So, if you’re considering a custom guitar, here’s why I believe you’ll find something truly special with Clements Guitars.
It’s About the Craftsmanship
When you choose a Clements guitar, you’re getting something that has been meticulously built by hand. Every single instrument that leaves my shop is made with care and attention to detail. My start-to-finish process is lengthy, but that is because I take the time to shape, carve, and finish each piece myself. This isn’t just a 9-5 for me—it’s an art form, and I pour my heart and soul into it. I want you to feel that when you play your guitar, and know that it was built for more than just function.
Quality Materials Make All the Difference
I believe that high-quality instruments start with high-quality materials, and that’s why I’m very selective about what goes into each guitar. Our guitars are all composed of a genuine mahogany back and neck, figured maple top, double action truss rod, and high-performance Porter pickups. Mass-produced guitars often rely on cheaper materials, so while they may sound fine initially, they just don’t age the same way. I use the materials I use to ensure that your guitar will not only sound and feel incredible today but continue to improve over the years, becoming a piece that is unique to you.
Rooted in Texas History
Clements Guitars is more than just a business to me; it’s a celebration of Texas’ rich history. Bryan, Texas is where I call home, and Texas blood & pride beats through my body. My 4th great-grandfather was part of the historic “Come and Take It” battle, which was a defining moment for Texas’ fight for independence. That same spirit and resilience plays a significant role and defines the work that I do today. When you hold a Clements guitar, you’re holding a piece of Texas history as well as a solemn reminder of why Texas is where it is today.
Your Guitar, Your Story
One of my favorite parts about building guitars is getting to know the people I’m building them for. For most players, a guitar isn’t just an object—it’s an extension of the body and soul. Because of that, I take time to talk with you and learn more about you, your music preferences, and your inspirations. Together, we can create something that’s truly yours, designed for the way you play, with all the little details that make it feel like home in your hands. It’s not a mass-produced “one-size-fits-all” instrument—it’s a guitar that’s been made specifically for you.
A Sound That’s Uniquely Yours
The sound of a Clements guitar is something special. I use time-honored techniques when crafting guitars to make sure that all of the instrument’s pieces are seamlessly fused to provide you with the maximum possible amount of resonance. Every strum, every bend, and every note carries the tone of quality craftsmanship. The sound you’ll get from a Clements guitar is something you can’t replicate, and it’s made to last a lifetime.
Let’s Build Your Dream Guitar Together
I would love nothing more than to build you a guitar that feels as personal as your music. If you’re ready to experience what it’s like to play an instrument that’s made with care, passion, and high-quality materials, I’d be honored to work with you. Let’s create something that’s truly yours, and that you’ll treasure for years to come.
